CALLI LEIGH BURNETT, ATTORNEY

Calli values people and is passionate about providing equity through broader access to legal services, quality education, and justice. Calli has always sought opportunities to serve others and better the lives of children and families.

Previously in Chicago Calli operated a solo practice, Burnett Law, LLC, as part of the Justice Entrepreneurs Program, and worked at Legal Aid Chicago, where she helped students stay in school and receive the special education supports they needed to be successful. She started her legal career as one of three 2015 Illinois Bar Foundation Fellows working at the Loyola University Chicago Community Law Clinic, taking on divorce cases and serving as a court-appointed Guardian ad Litem in probate guardianship matters.

Before receiving her Juris Doctorate and Masters in Cultural and Educational Policy Studies at Loyola University Chicago, Calli served as a preschool teacher at a Head Start facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma through Americorp’s Teach for America program. It was in that role that she learned of the broad inequities facing many communities and families, which continues to drive her career decisions and personal investments.

She and her husband Nathan Hilborn along with their beagle Nana recently moved to Saint Petersburg in Fall 2019. She is excited to continue this work here in Florida.

Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.
